The Black X is an American rock duo formed in Fort Worth, TX in 2011. The group consists of Jefrey Hamilton (guitar, vocals) and Jackson Hamilton (drums). The group began as an independent act founded after the youngest member turned 6, and they eventually emerged among a second wave of popular garage rock revival artists from the 2010s. In November 2011, The Black X uploaded their first single in the United States.
Their debut single, The Black Rider (2011), was recorded at The Music Room and forged their raw garage rock sound. Over the next 6 months, The Black X built an underground fanbase through near-constant recordings of songs, frequent photo shoots, and extensive rocking. However, in June of 2012 their recording console died and they were unable to record for almost 3 years.
The band did stay busy while they were unable to record. Jack started taking drum lessons as well as piano lessons. Jefrey joined a local band to stay sharp and continue building his skills. The two are both currently writing and recording new songs for a 2015 release.
